Zaydi, Pezeshkian Discuss Regional Developments and Bilateral Ties by Phone

Iraq’s Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reviewed regional developments in a phone call today, while also stressing the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in ways that serve the interests of the Iraqi and Iranian peoples. The discussion came as both sides marked Eid al-Adha and underlined the importance of easing regional tensions. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Press Office, Zaydi received the call from Pezeshkian and exchanged Eid greetings with him, with both leaders wishing the holiday would bring goodness and stability to the peoples of Iraq and Iran, as well as to the Islamic world. The two sides also assessed the state of Iraq-Iran relations during the call. They emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between the two countries in a way that advances mutual interests. Regional developments were also on the agenda, and both leaders said coordination and cooperation at the regional and international levels should continue in order to reduce tensions. Zaydi and Pezeshkian further highlighted the importance of promoting dialogue and calm language to reinforce security and stability in the region and globally.
