MOSUL, Iraq — A 20-year-old man was killed by gunfire in the garden of his home in the Râfidin neighborhood in western Mosul on Tuesday, a Nineveh police source said. The victim died at the scene after a bullet struck his head, according to the source.
The body was transferred to the forensic medicine unit to complete an autopsy and legal procedures, the police source added. Security forces detained a suspect based on the victim's family's complaint and statements, the source said.
Nineveh police said the investigation is being conducted by the relevant authorities to clarify the circumstances of the attack and begin legal proceedings against the suspect. Officials added that the motive and all aspects of the shooting are being examined. No further details were immediately available.
