The number of US service members wounded in American operations against Iran has reached 624, according to Pentagon data cited by the New York Times. The Defense Ministry, working from official figures, said 207 troops have been wounded since 7 July, when a new escalation phase began within the broader campaign that started in February. Military sources told the Times that the Pentagon began publishing casualty and wounded figures separately on Sunday. The change came after the ceasefire announced in April between the United States and Iran, though the latest casualties are recorded in July. The newspaper had previously reported that the US death toll in the Iran war had suddenly dropped on the Pentagon's website, prompting contradictory statements from three military officials and a department spokesperson. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell denied the report and rejected the claims.
