The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 213,500 Judy King magnetic construction cubes after two children swallowed the separated magnets and required surgery. The commission said the toys can break and release their magnets, making them accessible to children. The recall covers 45-, 56-, 100-, 120-, 150- and 300-piece sets sold on Amazon in the United States from January 2024 to July 2026 for between $17 and $50. The products were made in China and sold under themes including forest, galaxy, farm, castle, unicorn, swamp and dinosaur. The commission received 27 complaints reporting that the cubes broke or came apart. Consumers were advised to stop using the toys and contact the Hong Kong-based importer, Yi Swein Commerce, for a refund. The commission warned that swallowed magnets can attach to each other in the digestive system, causing intestinal perforation, twisting or blockage. It said severe cases can result in blood poisoning or death. The recall followed earlier withdrawals of CuberShop magnetic speed cubes and about 1,000 PIXLABBY silicone slides.
