Umm Qasr Port Receives First Cargo Ship Direct From China

BASRA, Iraq — Umm Qasr North Port in Iraq’s Basra received its first cargo ship arriving directly from China on Monday, the General Company for Iraqi Ports said. The vessel docked after maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz resumed. The ship, identified as MV KSL XINYANG, was carrying materials and equipment for the oil sector along with various commercial goods, with a total cargo of 29,720 tons. General Manager Farhan al-Fartusi said Iraqi ports are continuing to handle shipments and receive cargo in an orderly manner. He said the resumption of sea voyages through the Strait of Hormuz has strengthened trade activity and supported shipping companies’ confidence in Iraq’s ports.
