Ukraine says it struck Russian petrochemical plant in Tyumen with drones

KYIV, Ukraine — Ukraine's Special Forces said on Thursday that it struck the ZabSibNefteHim petrochemical plant in Russia's Tyumen region with drones, according to a Reuters report. The statement said the attack caused a fire and damage at the facility. Russia's Defense Ministry said its strikes hit energy and transport infrastructure at 158 locations, as well as drone assembly workshops and Ukrainian military depots. The ministry added that Russian forces had advanced on several sectors of the front line. The exchange of claims came amid a continued pattern of long-range drone strikes targeting energy and industrial sites in both countries. Russia has intensified attacks on Ukrainian power and transport facilities, while Kyiv has increasingly used domestically produced drones to reach targets deep inside Russian territory, including petrochemical and refining complexes. No immediate casualty figures from the Tyumen strike were released. ZabSibNefteHim, based in Tobolsk, is one of Russia's largest petrochemical producers and a unit of Sibur, the country's largest petrochemicals company.
