Two brothers arrested in Baghdad for staging killing as suicide

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Police in Baghdad's Rusafa district said on Monday that two brothers were arrested for killing a man and attempting to make the death appear to be a suicide in the Zafaraniya neighborhood. According to a written statement from the Baghdad Police Command's Rusafa division, investigators from the Zafaraniya police station, the public security department, crime-fighting teams, emergency patrols and intelligence units worked together to uncover the circumstances of the death. The investigation determined that the victim's two brothers carried out the killing, the statement said. Police said the suspects tried to convince security forces that the man had taken his own life, but technical examination and coordination between the units established the truth. The weapon used in the crime was recovered. The two suspects were taken into custody and referred for judicial proceedings, with the legal process underway, the command said.
