Iraq PM approves Interior, Defense ministry quotas for orphans

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced that Prime Minister Ali Fadhel al-Zaydi approved the allocation of a portion of positions within the Interior and Defense ministries for orphans residing in social care homes. Under the decision, the quotas will be reserved for orphans who have reached the age of 18 and meet the required legal and physical conditions. Zaqqa Abdulrahim, head of the Public Staffing Commission, said the approval was the result of long-standing monitoring of orphan cases by the commission. She added that integrating orphans into the workforce and supporting them in leading dignified and stable lives ranks among the ministry's priorities. The ministry said the measure is intended to provide orphans with a regular source of income and to strengthen their ability to support themselves and build their futures. It also stated that the initiative aims to channel the energy and capabilities of orphans into public service. According to the ministry, the decision reflects the government's commitment to supporting orphans and helping them integrate into society.
