Two arrested in Baghdad over drug possession

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Two people were arrested in the Rusafa side of the capital after being caught riding a motorcycle while in possession of narcotics, the Baghdad Police Directorate's Rusafa branch said. Officers stopped a male and a female suspect during a routine security operation and seized a crystal-type drug from them, according to the statement issued on Thursday. The directorate said an investigation has been opened and both suspects were handed over to the relevant police station to complete legal procedures. In its statement, the Rusafa branch added that routine inspections under anti-narcotics operations will continue and that similar cases will be followed up. No further details were immediately available.
