Twitter Now opens to early users as X pursues trademark lawsuit

A new social media platform called Twitter Now has opened to users during an early-access phase. The platform is backed by Virginia-based Operation Bluebird, which argues that X abandoned the Twitter name and blue bird logo. X has said it retains rights to the Twitter and Tweet trademarks and accuses the new venture of trading on its brand. Twitter Now offers two paid tiers: $20 for founding membership and at least $40 for a second tier it calls "fighters." The company has said the revenue will fund product development and the legal fight over the trademark. Features such as the platform's VERA trust indicators and tools for users to set content preferences are still under development. During an April 2026 hearing, Judge Colm Connolly made oral remarks suggesting X may have relinquished some trademark rights. The court has not issued a final ruling on whether Twitter Now's operations should be halted or on ownership of the trademarks, and the case is ongoing.
