FALLUJAH, Iraq โ The administration of the Women's Obstetrics and Pediatric Teaching Hospital in Fallujah, in Anbar province, said 22 people were brought to the facility within 24 hours with suspected food poisoning, including children and women.
The hospital said in a statement that 15 children were admitted to the emergency department with poisoning symptoms and were receiving the required medical care on site. Seven women were transferred to Fallujah Teaching Hospital so their treatment could continue in line with accepted medical protocols.
According to initial information, the cases are suspected to be linked to a meal consumed at a fast-food restaurant in the city. Health units have taken laboratory samples to determine the source of the poisoning and decide on any further measures.
