BAGHDAD, Iraq โ U.S. President Donald Trump said at the White House that Hezbollah has contacted the United States about halting the fighting, and that Iranian nuclear facilities are under satellite surveillance.
Trump told reporters he has spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and with Hezbollah representatives, describing progress in a conflict that has lasted for decades. He said bringing peace to Lebanon would be positive.
The U.S. president said the Lebanon file is connected to Iran. He warned that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons, and that those approaching nuclear sites will face consequences. Trump also said that Iran killing U.S. soldiers would be a valid reason to restart military operations.
Trump noted the situation in Lebanon carries a different dimension due to its connection with Iran, but added that diplomatic channels remain open for a resolution.
