Transformer Explodes During Maintenance in Diyala, Injuring Three

DIYALA, Iraq — A transformer exploded during maintenance work at the Al-Halis electricity maintenance center in northern Diyala province on Tuesday, injuring the center's manager and two technical staff members, according to a medical source affiliated with the Diyala Health Directorate. The manager, an engineer, and the two technicians were conducting repairs on the transformer, which failed due to a technical fault. The three injured workers were transferred to Baqubah Teaching Hospital's emergency department for immediate medical attention. Medical officials at the hospital said initial treatment was administered to the victims, adding that their current health condition is stable. Security forces have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the transformer malfunction. No further details about the incident were immediately available.
