Diyala police seize two fuel-laden trucks in smuggling operation

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Police in Iraq’s eastern Diyala province seized two fuel tankers being prepared for smuggling in violation of legal regulations, a security source said on Friday. The operation was carried out on August 7, 2026, by units attached to the Sa’diyye police station of the Diyala Provincial Police Directorate within the area of responsibility of Security Zone Four, according to the source from the Diyala police. The trucks and the fuel they were carrying were secured, and legal proceedings were initiated against the drivers, with their case files referred to the competent authorities, the source added. The security official said operations against fuel smuggling would continue within the officers’ areas of responsibility.
