10th International Arbaeen Conference opens in Karbala

KARBALA, Iraq — The 10th International Arbaeen Scientific Conference opened in Karbala on Wednesday under the auspices of Sheikh Abdulmehdi al-Karbalai, the custodian of the Imam Hussein Shrine. Organizers said the event is being held under the theme "Arbaeen: A Message of Civilization in the Age of Digital Transformation," with more than 70 academic and scientific figures from roughly 50 countries taking part. The conference is organized by the Karbala Center for Research and Studies. In opening remarks, al-Karbalai said the Arbaeen pilgrimage represents a living extension of Imam Hussein's humanitarian values, noting that the principles of charity, love and equality are clearly reflected in the march. Center president Abdulamir al-Qurayshi said all preparatory and scientific committees have finalized their work for the conference. He added that the event aims to highlight the educational and moral impact of the Arbaeen pilgrimage and to emphasize the values of patience, sacrifice and humility. Sessions are also examining the civilizational dimensions of the pilgrimage in light of digital transformation and global developments.
