Three separate deaths reported in Baghdad, including suicide, fire and drowning

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Three separate incidents were reported across Baghdad on Wednesday, including a suicide, a shop fire and the drowning of a child, according to local police and civil defense accounts. In the Baladiyat neighborhood on Baghdad's Karkh side, a young man was found dead after hanging himself at home using a rope tied to a ceiling-mounted fan. Relevant authorities opened an investigation into the circumstances of the death. In the Jurf al-Nadaf area of Nahrawan district along the Najaf road, fire broke out at two spare-parts shops and was brought under control by civil defense teams. The shop owner filed a formal complaint, alleging the fire was caused by negligence, against a night watchman, who was detained and referred to the judiciary. Separately in the same district, the body of a child who was swept away by the current while swimming in the Diyala River near the French Bridge was recovered by specialist teams. The child remains were transferred to the forensic medical department to complete legal procedures. Investigations into all three incidents are continuing.
