BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Federal Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Investment Commission have agreed to expand operational cooperation to shield the country's investment environment from corruption, bribery and irregularities, the Federal Anti-Corruption Commission said in a statement.
Under the agreement, the two bodies will set up joint working groups to monitor investment files transparently, tighten oversight of tender and licensing procedures, and respond quickly to suspected corruption cases. Officials said anti-corruption units will be brought into investment processes at an early stage, describing it as the most effective way to safeguard capital flows.
The two sides also agreed to establish regular information sharing aimed at reducing administrative obstacles faced by foreign and domestic investors and protecting investment projects from corruption risk. Senior officials from both commissions met in Baghdad to finalize the framework, which is to be implemented in the coming period. No further details on the timeline or specific projects were immediately available.
