Three-day healthcare and medical products fair opens in Erbil

ERBIL, Iraq — A three-day fair focused on the healthcare and medical sector opened at the Kurdistan Region International Fairground in Erbil. The event was inaugurated by Kurdistan Region Health Minister Saman Barzinji and runs through the end of the week. More than 300 companies from 17 countries are taking part, including firms from the Kurdistan Region and the rest of Iraq, as well as companies based in Europe and the United States. Exhibits cover medical supplies, healthcare equipment, health services, pharmaceuticals, opportunities for medical training abroad and hospital management systems. Fair committee member Sirwan Mohammed Abdullah said the event aims to strengthen cooperation between health companies in the Kurdistan Region and firms from regional countries, Europe and the United States. He added that the Kurdistan Regional Government prepares annual plans to improve healthcare services and noted that patients from central and southern Iraq also use medical facilities in the Region. Specialist seminars in internal medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology, neurology and orthopedics will be held during the fair, with the latest scientific research in those fields shared with participants.
