BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Ninawa's Roads and Bridges Director Ridvan al-Shahwani said a service project is underway to streamline truck traffic and ease congestion at Mosul's main entry checkpoints. Speaking in line with the governor's directives, al-Shahwani said work is focused on the city's entry points, particularly the Mosul Dam checkpoint and the Erbil road. Under the project, an isolated concrete lane dedicated to trucks will be poured and refurbished, running from the district up to the dam checkpoint. Officials are also preparing to install a second sonar device to speed up inspections and keep traffic flowing. The measures mirror earlier upgrades carried out at the Mosul Dam checkpoint. Located in northern Ninawa, the Mosul Dam checkpoint serves as a joint security and customs crossing operated by local and federal authorities. No further details on the timeline or cost of the project were immediately available.
