Three arrested in Baghdad for possession of narcotic pills

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Police in Baghdad's Karkh district said three people were arrested for possession of narcotic pills. According to a statement from the Karkh Police Command, officers from the Baiya Emergency Area under the Karkh Emergency Directorate stopped the three suspects on suspicion during a security patrol in their area of responsibility. A search of the suspects yielded strips of pills with narcotic effects, the statement said. The seized substances were confiscated at the scene. The Karkh Police Command said legal proceedings have been initiated against the three individuals. The suspects were handed over to the relevant authorities pending the completion of the investigation and the clarification of the conditions surrounding the possession of the narcotic substances.
