Houthis target Yemen's western coastal city of Mocha in fresh attacks

Yemeni sources said on Friday that the Houthis launched new attacks on the port of Mocha in the southwestern province of Taiz, using ballistic missiles and drones against the city, its port and military and civilian sites. The assault came days after a broader strike on Mocha that killed seven people — four soldiers and three civilians — and wounded 30, according to the same sources. The earlier bombardment targeted the port, military positions and civilian infrastructure in the area. Mocha sits on Yemen's western Red Sea coast and lies near the Bab el-Mandeb strait, one of the world's busiest maritime chokepoints. Its port serves as one of the main western coastal outlets for areas under government control. Yemen's internationally recognized government and the Iran-aligned Houthis have been locked in conflict since the group seized much of the country's north, including the capital Sanaa, in late 2014. The Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 in support of the government.
