Iraq's foreign minister reaffirms support for Palestine in meeting with ambassador

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein reaffirmed the country's continued support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights during a meeting with Palestinian Ambassador Samer Awadallah at the ministry's headquarters in Baghdad, the Foreign Ministry said in a written statement. The two officials discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen ties between Iraq and Palestine. They also reviewed recent developments in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as the hardships facing Palestinians in light of ongoing events in the region. The statement added that Iraq backs efforts to provide humanitarian and medical assistance to wounded Palestinians.
