Thousands Mark Eid al-Adha Prayers in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah

Thousands of worshippers gathered early in the morning in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah to perform Eid al-Adha prayers at mosques and designated prayer grounds, underscoring the holiday’s social and religious significance across the two cities. Attendance was especially heavy at Jalil Khayat Mosque in Erbil and at the Grand Mosque and prayer areas in Sulaymaniyah. The sermons emphasized solidarity, tolerance and social peace, reflecting the holiday’s message of communal cohesion. In both cities, residents also used the occasion to call on political forces to pursue dialogue, leave crises behind and improve living conditions. In Sulaymaniyah, activity continued after the prayer with family visits, cemetery visits and preparations for the traditional Eid table. The holiday atmosphere remained lively throughout the morning as residents marked one of the most important dates in the Islamic calendar.
