Switzerland secured a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 4-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in their Group I European qualifier on Friday. The match was played at Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica, with all of Switzerland's goals coming at different stages of the game.
The victory lifted Switzerland clear at the top of the group and confirmed their qualification for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Swiss had built their campaign on a string of consistent results across the group stage.
Bosnia and Herzegovina were eliminated from contention as a result, missing out on a place in the playoffs after Sweden, their rival for that route, also dropped points in the same group. Bosnia's campaign ends without a path to the World Cup.
Switzerland will now turn their attention to their remaining qualifiers ahead of next year's finals.
