Sheikh Hammudi Discusses Regional Developments With Russian Ambassador in Baghdad

Supreme Islamic Council President Sheikh Hammudi met Russian Ambassador to Baghdad Alibros Kutrashev to discuss regional and international developments, as well as the future of bilateral relations after the formation of Iraq’s new government. The talks took place amid wider regional uncertainty and focused on ways to deepen cooperation between Iraq and Russia. Hammudi said the security and financial problems facing Iraq are part of the conflicts affecting the wider region. He stressed that joint work among regional states is important for stability and called for expanding cooperation. He also said the Iraqi government has adopted a new, economy-focused approach to state administration. Hammudi added that Iraq wants to benefit from the experience of Russia and other countries. According to Hammudi, Baghdad also aims to strengthen cooperation through investment opportunities. The discussion placed economic partnership alongside political ties as part of the next phase in relations between the two countries.
