BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's Interior Ministry has rejected claims that 600,000 of its employees receive double salaries, calling the allegations unfounded. Major General Mikdad Miri, head of the ministry's Press and Public Relations Department, said in a written statement that remarks by Federal Public Service Council head Muhyi Murtada al-Qazwini did not reflect reality. Miri said the claims were not supported by any official document or evidence. The ministry applies advanced financial and administrative oversight systems, and personnel salaries are strictly monitored by the relevant authorities, according to the statement. The ministry added that its doors remained open to any oversight body wishing to examine the matter. The statement said misleading information targeting state institutions negatively affects public opinion and distorts the facts. The Interior Ministry said it reserves the right to take legal action against those spreading unfounded information.
