Saudi Arabia says it shot down drones launched from Iraq targeting oil sites

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry said on Monday that several drones launched from Iraqi territory were intercepted and destroyed by air defense systems after targeting oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh. Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Turki al-Malki said the drones were brought down in recent hours and accused Iran-aligned "terror militias" of carrying out the attack from Iraqi soil, calling it a "terror" operation. Al-Malki said Saudi Arabia reserves the right to respond at an appropriate time in line with its right to defend itself and its assets. On the same day, the Jordanian army said it had intercepted two drones aimed at Jordanian territory, adding that the incident caused no casualties or material damage.
