Jordan says air force shot down two drones targeting its territory

AMMAN, Jordan — Jordan's military said its air force shot down two drones targeting the country's territory on Monday morning, in an engagement carried out under the rules of engagement. A military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces said Royal Air Force fighter jets intercepted and downed the aircraft in the morning hours. The military said the operation caused no casualties or material damage. Officials added that the origin of the drones is under investigation and that further details would be released. Jordanian authorities said measures against increasing airspace violations across the Middle East in recent years are being maintained. The kingdom has kept its air defense systems on continuous alert amid regional tensions, officials said.
