KARBALA, Iraq โ A mourning procession reenacting the entry of Hussein's caravan into Karbala was held in the Iraqi city on the second day of Muharram, organized by the Heydariyya Community Procession. The event drew large numbers of Karbala residents and visitors, with participants including children, horses and camels, alongside volunteers in traditional costumes.
The procession is considered one of the largest annual symbolic mourning reenactments in Karbala, featuring dramatic scenes depicting the caravan of Hussein, his family, his companions and his camels arriving in the city. Participants moved from central Karbala toward the holy shrines of Hussein and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, using traditional clothing and period-inspired decorations.
Such symbolic processions are among the most important Husseini rituals held in Karbala throughout Muharram, reflecting the period leading up to the events of Karbala and the values of the Husseini movement. No further details on the scale or duration of the gathering were immediately available.
