BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi football clubs have stepped up activity in the transfer market as the new Stars League season approaches. Al-Shorta (El Police) secured a deal with national striker Muhannad Ali "Mimi," adding him to its squad. Naft Maysan signed defender Hussein Muhsin from Kahrabaa (Kisim) to strengthen its back line.
Erbil Club has advanced talks with national midfielder Safa Hadi at the request of coach Luay Salah. The opening-week match between Zakho and Al-Samawa has been moved to Duhok Club's ground because Zakho Stadium is not yet ready for use.
In other moves, Ivorian forward Ismael Vafouguissani Soro joined Al-Zawraa (ez-Zevra) on a one-season loan from Scottish club Celtic. Norvez Club signed six foreign players as it builds a squad capable of competing in the new campaign. The deals come as clubs move to finalize registration files before the league's kickoff.
