PMF Member Killed in Mortar Blast at Spiker Base in Salahaddin

The Popular Mobilization Forces confirmed that one of its members was killed in a mortar shell explosion at the Spiker military base in Iraq’s Salahaddin province. The blast also injured three people, including one who sustained a serious head wound.
Security sources said the incident occurred during grass clearing in the area of a guard tower, when a 60mm mortar shell ignited. The exact circumstances of the explosion have not yet become clear.
The Spiker base is a joint facility where the Iraqi army and Popular Mobilization Forces are both stationed. Further details were still emerging at the time of the report.
