Sulaymaniyah Live Chicken Prices Rise as Stocks Decline Before Eid al-Adha

Live chicken sales have intensified in Sulaymaniyah province’s markets ahead of Eid al-Adha, driven by stronger purchasing power and the distribution of monthly salaries that sent residents out to buy basic necessities. The surge in demand has pushed up prices and reduced available stocks in several markets. By evening, the supply of live chickens had begun to fall, while the kilogram price ranged from 4,000 to 6,000 dinars depending on type and size. Sellers said the sharp increase in demand quickly lifted prices and left many markets without stock. Traders said the market moved briskly as households prepared for the holiday. They added that the pressure on supply was concentrated in the evening hours, when availability weakened further. A relative stabilization in prices is expected tomorrow if new shipments arrive. Sellers said incoming supplies would help ease the shortage and restore balance in the markets.
