Omani delegation arrives in Tehran for talks on Strait of Hormuz shipping arrangements

The Omani team is set to hold discussions on regulating ship movements through the strategic waterway. CNN, citing a source, reported that Oman has proposed managing traffic through two separate shipping lanes but said the proposal has not yet been finalized. The same report said a draft agreement on organizing the strait's shipping routes was also being discussed. Oman's state news agency confirmed that Muscat and Tehran agreed to continue technical and political negotiations aimed at reaching an understanding on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in line with international law. The two sides framed the talks around compliance with international legal rules governing passage through the choke point. Iranian state media did not immediately provide further details on the agenda or the expected duration of the talks.
