MOGADISHU, Somalia — Pirates seized an oil tanker off Somalia’s northeastern coast, local officials and the UK Maritime Trade Operations said on Thursday. The vessel was traveling from Berbera Port to Mogadishu when it was taken near the Puntland region.
The tanker was carrying petroleum products, and Somali pirates may have been involved, according to the reports. The ship was said to belong to a Pakistani businessman.
The number of crew members on board has not yet been disclosed. An investigation into the incident is continuing.
