Iraqi writer Karim Wahid has proposed the formation of a streamlined cabinet, chaired by the prime minister, to meet weekly and accelerate the implementation of the government program.
The proposed structure would include the deputy prime ministers and the ministers of foreign affairs, interior, finance, and planning to coordinate the broader cabinet's activities. Under the plan, deputy prime ministers would lead high-level committees focused on economic, planning, service, and education sectors.
Wahid stated that this arrangement would ensure the regular submission of progress reports regarding the government program to the Iraqi Parliament. The current cabinet received a vote of confidence from the Iraqi Parliament on May 14, 2026.
