BAGHDAD, Iraq — A delegation representing Iraq’s 2024 non-permanent doctors said on Wednesday that less than 24 hours remain before a general, full and open-ended strike at all hospitals in Iraq. The strike is set to include all health institutions, including emergency rooms and critical departments.
The delegation said doctors will not accept working for low wages and will not give up their rights. It said one of the main demands is permanent appointment to the Health Ministry’s staff without waiting for budget approval.
The statement did not give further details on the timing of the strike or any talks aimed at averting it. It also did not say how many doctors are involved.
