MOSUL, Iraq โ An Iraqi parliament member for Nineveh says work on a road asphalt project linking Mosul to Hammam al-Alyil and Shura has completely halted.
Nadia Nasir Jabri said her field inspection of the route found no construction equipment or personnel at the site. She held discussions with the Roads and Bridges Directorate, which said the absence of a survey document for the project prevented administrative and technical processes from being completed, blocking implementation.
Jabri said delays are unacceptable given the route's importance as a key link south of Nineveh. She called on relevant authorities to swiftly finalize technical and administrative steps and restart the work.
The road connects Mosul to multiple areas south of the city. Residents say it has caused difficulties for drivers for years due to neglect and damage, and they are demanding renovation and improved infrastructure.
