Two killed, 13 wounded in bus explosion in Damascus: Syrian health ministry

DAMASCUS, Syria — A bomb placed inside a passenger bus exploded in the Jermana area on the southwestern outskirts of Damascus, killing two people and wounding 13, Syria's Health Ministry said on Tuesday. The ministry said hospitals and emergency medical teams were activated at full capacity to evacuate and treat the injured. Forensic teams at the scene recovered human remains and identified seven of those wounded, according to the ministry statement. Syria's Ministry of Emergency and Disasters said rescue teams continued working in the area, the blast site was being cleared, and measures were being taken to ensure civilian safety. The explosion occurred near Rawda, in the vicinity of Jermana, a town southwest of the capital. Security forces cordoned off the area and opened an investigation to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators behind the attack. No further details on a potential motive were immediately available.
