Nineveh governor pushes back on 'attack' question during condolence visit

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Nineveh Governor Abdulkadir Dıheyl visited the families of those killed in an attack on the Popular Mobilization Forces' 30th Brigade, 4th Battalion, in the Bartella subdistrict south of Mosul, the governorate said. During the visit, Dıheyl reacted sharply when a journalist asked about his stance on the "attack," calling the question "directed by money." He said his presence at the condolence ceremony was part of his responsibility to all components, adding, "We are always with the people of Nineveh and do not discriminate." The governor also offered wishes for the recovery of the wounded. Mosul district governor Hişam al-Hashimi, members of parliament and the provincial council, and security commanders attended the ceremony. Ten people from the 30th Brigade's 4th Battalion were killed in the attack.
