NAJAF, Iraq โ Owners of private electricity generators in Najaf have postponed a planned strike, the head of the local generators' association, Ali al-Ghazali, said on Saturday, citing the need to clarify fuel pricing arrangements before taking further action.
Al-Ghazali told reporters the association had received information that the price of gas oil, or kerosene, had been raised to 750 dinars per liter. He described the reported increase as provocative and said the group was waiting for official confirmation from the relevant authorities.
If the new price is formally confirmed, the generators have stated they are prepared to resume strike action. Al-Ghazali called on the relevant institutions to issue a clear statement on the revised tariff.
No further details on the timeline for an official announcement were immediately available.
