KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait โ British industry publication MEED has reported that gas processing projects across the Middle East and North Africa carry a combined value of at least $10.5 billion. The projects are being developed in Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Libya and Algeria.
According to the magazine, Iraq is among the countries advancing gas processing projects as part of efforts to harness regional gas resources and reduce gas flaring. National oil companies are accelerating investment in gas processing facilities, sulfur and natural gas liquids recovery units, pressure-boosting stations and pipeline infrastructure, with strong capital spending on such projects expected to continue through the end of the current decade.
In the Gulf, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman are continuing to advance large-scale gas developments. These include Saudi Arabia's Jafurah project, valued at roughly $100 billion, and the UAE's rich gas development program, estimated at $8.2 billion. MEED said additional regional projects are in various stages of planning and execution across the seven countries identified.
