Maysan Criminal Court has sentenced a defendant to four years of hard labor under Article 3 of the anti-prostitution law, in a ruling tied to the province’s anti-human trafficking efforts. The case was handled as part of the work carried out by the city’s anti-human trafficking unit.
The court said the judgment was issued on the basis of the 1988 Law No. 8 on Combating Prostitution and its amendments. Authorities said legal action remains under way against those involved in such crimes.
