Baghdad Exam Periods Expose Structural Problems in School Services

Education specialist Wisam Hadi said the repeated service crises in schools and examination centres during every exam period in Baghdad reflect an accumulated structural problem in education management. He said the response is often limited to temporary fixes prepared under pressure, turning spending into short-term measures rather than lasting improvements. Hadi said additional allocations and new funding will not bring real change to school services unless they are backed by implementation and oversight mechanisms. He stressed that money must be directed straight to electricity, cooling, exam conditions and logistical needs. He also said long-ignored maintenance and infrastructure gaps keep reproducing the same problems every year. A durable solution, he added, requires a comprehensive renovation plan covering the education sector.
