BABIL, Iraq โ A family dispute in Babil province south of Baghdad led to a man stabbing his uncle to death, police said. Lt. Col. Ammar al-Shammari, spokesperson for the Babil Police Command, said the altercation between the nephew and his uncle in the village of Bu Alwan, in the northern district of al-Muhawil, escalated from an argument into a fatal stabbing. Security forces were dispatched to the scene and opened an investigation, with the body transferred to a forensic medical institution.
In a separate incident in the al-Mucur Sudur district south of Maysan, gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a vehicle, killing two people and setting the car ablaze. The assailants have not been identified, and security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.
Separately, in the Gharaf district of Dhi Qar province, an 18-year-old woman attempted suicide by ingesting rat poison following a family dispute with her mother. She was taken to hospital by her family and was reported to be in critical condition.
