Iran's Tasnim reports multiple explosions around Bandar Abbas

WASHINGTON, United States — Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported late Monday that several explosions were heard in and around the southern port city of Bandar Abbas. According to local sources cited by the agency, missile and air strikes were carried out in the Larak area, while four powerful blasts were reported in Konarak. Tasnim also said air defense systems were activated in Bandar Abbas and that residents of Konarak and Chabahar witnessed six explosions. Sources who spoke to the agency said the exact locations of the blasts had not yet been determined and that security forces were investigating. They described the current situation as calm. The agency further claimed that a U.S.-made suicide drone was intercepted by air defenses over Bandar Abbas and that several vessels violating rules in the Strait of Hormuz were struck. Some local sources in Chabahar said the blasts originated from the Konarak area. Iranian authorities had not issued an official statement at the time of the report. Tasnim said the renewed air strikes in recent days came despite a previously reached ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
