BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A man shot and killed his uncle, who was also his father-in-law, in Baghdad's Sha'la neighborhood on Friday morning after a family dispute, the Karkh Police Command said. The suspect was arrested shortly after the attack and the firearm used in the killing was recovered.
According to the command, an investigation team was formed under the supervision of the Karkh police commander and his deputy, working with the Sha'la police station. Security camera footage showed a masked suspect following the victim on a motorcycle and opening fire multiple times as he stepped out of a three-wheeled taxi and walked toward his home.
Police said the suspect was identified through the footage and taken into custody in a subsequent operation, during which the weapon and clothing used in the crime were also seized. The man confessed to carrying out the killing over a family dispute, the statement said, adding that his testimony was judicially approved and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
