A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck the border region between Iran's western Kermanshah and Ilam provinces on Saturday evening, according to the Iranian National Seismological Center. The agency said the quake was recorded at 21:06 local time at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The epicenter was identified near Gilanbare district, at coordinates 34.08 north latitude and 45.99 east longitude. Authorities placed the epicenter about 9 kilometers from the nearest settlement and roughly 105 kilometers from Kermanshah city.
Officials reported no casualties or material damage from the tremor. Local administration and civil defense teams assessed conditions in nearby villages following the quake.
