Kuwait allows stateless persons to serve as fire service non-commissioned officers

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait — KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has issued a decision allowing stateless persons to be appointed as non-commissioned officers within the General Directorate of Fire Service, according to a published order. The move applies to individuals stripped of nationality under the relevant article of Kuwait's 1959 Nationality Law. Under the decision, applications will be assessed on the basis of contracts signed with candidates, and final appointments will be made by the head of the General Directorate of Fire Service once all security vetting by the relevant authorities is completed. Successful candidates must commit to serve in the fire service for five years, a period that may be renewed. Appointees will be subject to all laws, regulations and instructions in force within the fire service for the duration of their service. The General Directorate's head has also been granted the authority to reassign or redeploy the personnel to other roles in the public interest.
