Kurdistan Region president signals cooperation with Iraq's federal anti-corruption body

ERBIL, Iraq — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mohammed Ali Miften, head of Iraq's Federal Anti-Corruption Commission, and his accompanying delegation in Erbil to discuss expanding cooperation between federal and regional anti-corruption institutions. Ahmed Anwar, head of the Kurdistan Region's anti-corruption body, also attended the meeting. According to a statement from the Kurdistan Region presidency, the talks focused on strengthening coordination between the federal commission and relevant institutions in the Kurdistan Region. Both sides stressed the importance of safeguarding the independence of anti-corruption bodies and upholding the rule of law. Barzani said the Kurdistan Region is ready to cooperate fully with the federal commission and all judicial authorities to enforce the law, according to the statement. Miften expressed appreciation for the ongoing and productive cooperation between the relevant institutions in the Kurdistan Region, the commission and federal authorities, the statement added.
