Suspect arrested and kidnapped girl rescued in Maysan operation

MAYSAN, Iraq — Maysan Police Directorate's Anti-Crime Unit rescued a kidnapped young woman and detained a suspect in an operation carried out on Wednesday evening, Iraqi security authorities said. Following field investigations and intelligence work, security forces identified the suspect's location along the Kahlaa road in eastern Maysan. A raid was conducted, the suspect was apprehended, and the kidnapped girl was rescued alive. A handgun was recovered from the suspect. Investigations revealed that the suspect had been wanted by a Baghdad police station on two separate murder charges and was listed as a person for whom an arrest warrant had been issued under Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code. The suspect has been handed over to the requesting authority. The rescued girl has been ensured safety and all legal procedures have been completed, according to the statement.
